EO was launched initially in 1987 with 22 members under the name Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (YEO). Branching out with the World Entrepreneurs’ Organization (WEO) in 1996, it connected and linked those entrepreneurs over 40 who wanted to remain part of the organization. Between 2004 and 2008, YEO and WEO merged into the current Entrepreneurs’ Organization. They launched two of its most successful programs – the EO Accelerator program and the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, in addition to widening its global reach through events and learning opportunities worldwide. Today's EO members employ over four million people worldwide.
